XBLA Wednesday - The Crashing of the Castles Game

Castle Crashers KnightsAs part of a highly unoriginal, but guaranteed regular - unlike Nerfie this week - feature we look at the new offering from the Behemoth, Castle Crashers.

A game so long in the making it was about to be inducted into the Duke Nukem School of Tardiness, to be taught by Silicon Knights staff members Castle Crashers is finally here in all it’s hand drawn glory.

And glory is the right word to use in this case, as The Behemoth team have put together a game worthy of any gamer’s collection. A blend of Alien Hominid, Streets of Rage and Top Cat the game is a joy to play, but is the 1200 point price tag a matter for consideration? Hit this annoying jump bar to find out…

EyePet - Capturing Bouncy’s Heart Since, Well An Hour Ago…

OK, before we get started I need to make a confession to you all. I am a hypocritical bastard sometimes.

There, now keep that in mind whilst I tell you about the PS3 game unveiled at Leipzig this week that has me all warm and fuzzy inside, like I have just eaten a lorry load of Furbys.

I love a gimmick, a gadget that has limited use is something I can cherish all the more. I love Wiifit, but it barely gets used at the moment, despite the cost. Same with Rock Band, that’s been in it’s box since the Retro Fusion event but I have still been downloading new tracks.

Wind the clock back a few years to when Sony unveiled the Eyetoy, demonstrating it’s magical powers with the wishy washy windows minigame from Eyetoy Play, and picture me a few stone light all giddy at the prospect of ignoring my all too real and all too manky windows, wishing I were doing it in my front room while a magical little camera watches my every move putting ME in the game. Well the magic is back, and I feel sorry for the family pets come next Christmas as EyePet is due for release in late 2009 and already has me excited like Nintendo 64 kid, but without the clear incestuous relations with my sister.

Bouncybhall’s Retro Fusion Adventure - Day One

Put the Feckin’ Tent UpI suppose you could blame me for us all descending on Leamington Spa, and stinking up the joint. You could hold me responsible for a camp site being covered in chips. Hell, you could even hold me solely responsible for some kids getting an unhealthy Rock Band addiction. But don’t.

I was the only Lolocauster to attend the previous Retro Fusion event, the ‘Weekend of Gaming’ and as such I knew what was possible. I figured that I would be going regardless of forum interest, and was more than pleasantly surprised that not only my wife wanted to accompany me, but also some of the best blokes in the world, ten of us in fact.

So, with a few bumps along the way we prepared to set off on what would be day to be remembered.
