Two news items for the price of one post

After courts cases, naff Sixaxis replacements, and a mass of gamers wondering why Sony couldn’t get their fingers out and give us a decent Dualshock update, it’s finally been given a street date of July 4th for Europe.

Retailing at £39.99 it’s hardly a cheap purchase, although the 360 wireless pad is around the same RRP, and for that it adds in the monumental addition of rumble technology.  Sarcasm aside, David Reeves, president of SCEE hopes, “this will add to the intense gaming experience for our fans, as we continue to evolve PS3, its software and its peripherals.”

So that will be the same rumble that has been around for years, in various consoles, including the PS2. Yeah, revolutionary. I wonder if Sony have tried selling ice to the Eskimos?

The good thing is that with the next firmware update for PS3, a variety of games will be made compatible with the Dualshock controller, including Resistance, GT5 and Uncharted.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Absolutely true. How many times will we play this, and do what we know no civilised government will do, and nuke the first freakin’ nation to look at you funny. In my case, it was the American city of Boston (they started it!), but that was outside the hour confines of this playtest.

Ninjas – is there anything they can’t do? Well, if you are a fan of Mythbusters, you know that they cannot walk on water, swat bullets away, catch a lunging sword at their head, or catch an arrow. Thankfully, Tomonbu Itagaki has either not seen the relevant episodes of Mythbusters, or has chosen to ignore them, and included pretty much all of them, and more in his Ninja ‘em up, Ninja Gaiden II..
